Denver Business Journal | Gaylord to reorganize, won’t proceed with Aurora hotel as planned

Gaylord Entertainment Co. said Thursday it will not proceed with its proposed Aurora hotel and convention complex “in the form previously anticipated” as it undergoes a company reorganization, including the sale of its hotel brand to Marriott International.

But Gaylord did not indicate it plans to cancel its plans for a 1,500-room, $824 million facility in Aurora near Denver International Airport, and in fact its chief executive Thursday called the proposed Colorado project “a screamer of a deal and a world-class hotel.”

In a conference call with analysts, Gaylord CEO Colin Reed said the company still believes the Aurora project “could be a significant project for Denver,” but the form in which it might take place is to be determined. It will be a vastly reduced financial involvement by Gaylord, however, he said.

Denver Business Journal | Shop Watch: PrAna opens in Cherry Creek, HBurger team has two new Boulder digs

Active-lifestyle clothing store, prAna, recently opened in the Cherry Creek North district.

Founded in 1992 as a rock climbing and yoga apparel store by Beaver and Pam Theodosakis, the clothing line soon became a high-performance item for the more active life. This new location is at 105 Fillmore St.

“The folks here in Denver have connected with our values and vision from the very beginning,” said Beaver Theodosakis in a statement. “What’s more, we love our new neighbors and look forward to being part of the energy at Cherry Creek North. This new space allows us to share our product, and to get involved with community events that reflect the ‘art of living.’”

The company’s flagship store is in Boulder, with additional outlets in Portland, Ore. and Santa Barbara, Calif.

HBurger has new home on Pearl Street

HBurger continues to expand its gourmet burger chain with a new restaurant at 1710 Pearl St. in Boulder that opened May 17.

The company has two locations in metro Denver, including the one that opened downtown in February, 2010, reported by Shop Watch.
